Our Volunteers Bexar Land Trust is always looking for volunteers! For more information please e-mail info@bexarlandtrust.org or call 210.222.8430. Our current volunteer needs include the following: Computer Network We need someone with knowledge of computer networks to maintain our in-office network several times per year. Mailings We are always in need of people to help us with our mailings! We need individuals to stuff and label envelopes and help prepare our quarterly newsletter for mailing. Events The Bexar Land Trust has fun and fabulous events, and we are always in need of volunteers to help us with all of the ins and outs! Research Research is vital to our efforts! We need people who are willing to research open land in and around Bexar County and to help with various other research projects. Community Gathering If you are interested in helping plan and present information at community meetings, there are a lot of opportunities for you. Community Gardens Programming Research Our Community Gardens coordinator needs help assessing the needs and wants of community garden groups. Community Gardens Planning and Design We also need assistance with the following aspects of community garden planning and design: · Site Plans: scaled layout and measurements of existing site and features · Garden plans: CADD designs of garden spaces, arrangement of plantings and features based on programming assessment · Feature design: We need help designing benches, gazebos, birdhouses, signage, etc. for specific garden spaces. The design of hardscape should be affordable, functional, aesthetic, and vernacular to the site. · Detail drawings: construction details and instructions for inexperienced volunteers · Green design: examples that community gardeners may insert into their garden design, such as solar power, water catchment, compost bins, and recycled materials · ADA design: details for elevated garden bed construction, standards for paths, slopes, materials, turnarounds, heights, etc. · Renderings: conceptual drawings of particular sites to help particular gardens build interest, support, and membership before the work is complete · Alternative materials: We are in need of suggestions for recycled or reusable materials so we can avoid using all-new, pre-treated, and pre-built supplies. · Art features: We are looking for suggestions for integrating art into the gardens. For example, we are interested in wall murals, placards as fence line, fountains, labyrinths, sculpture, path material, chimes, benches, and mobiles.
